Situated in-between Peckham and Brixton; Camberwell sits in the heart of South London and brings its own diverse and vibrant population, reports Pascal Kempson
In the center of it all is Camberwell Green, the area’s most notable area. It’s a space for children and adults alike, with plenty of space for a range of activities.
Historically, locals visited Camberwell for its relative tranquility in comparison to the hustle and bustle of everyday city life. Alas, as has happened with the majority of London, the area has undergone rigorous building and has been completely urbanised. However, there are still a good amount of parks if you’re looking to add a bit of greenery and serenity to your city life.
With a high street that boasts a wide variety of cafe’s, bars and restaurants, there’s plenty for you to sink your teeth into – for breakfast, lunch or dinner. That includes the quirky cafe The Pigeon Hole located on Datchelor Place, just off Peckham Road.
Finding public transport to Camberwell is easy, with Oval underground station a few minutes walk from the heart of it all. There are also many bus routes that run through as well as Denmark Hill overground station. Just type it into your CityMapper app, and away you go.
