Iranian director Asghar Farhadi decided to boycott the Oscars. His film Salesman was screened in Trafalgar Square the same night as the Oscars, in protest of the American travel ban of seven majority muslim countries including Iran.
Farhadi did not attend the Oscars to show solidarity to all the people who are not allowed to enter the USA under Trumps extreme immigration policies. Salesman went on to win the Oscar for best foreign language film.
Thousands turned up to see the screening and show their support, Sadiq Khan who organised the event told the crowd that London is open.
Our reporters Aileen and Frederica spoke to some of the protests to find out their views.
