Lionel Messi wins his 2nd Fifa Best Mens Player of the Year Award

Lionel Messi who plays for Argentina and Paris Saint Germain has been given the men’s player of the year for the second time at the 2022 Best Fifa Awards which was held in Paris. He had won the award for his outstanding 2021/22 season where first of all he famously captained his country Argentina to glory at Qatar by winning their 3rd World Cup at the end of last year. The 35 year old also scored 27 goals in 49 games for both club and country and won the award over his fellow teammate Kylian Mbappe and also Karim Benzema.

When collecting his award he said “I achieved the dream I had been hoping for for so long. Very few people can achieve that and I have been lucky to do so.”

Also at the ceremony, the Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni was named coach of the year as he led the country to to win their 3rd World Cup. He had beaten Pep Guardiola who won the premier league last season with Manchester City, and Carlo Ancelotti who won the Champions League with Real Madrid.
