Club legend Frank Lampard has just been appointed as Chelsea’s caretaker manager until the end of the season.

Chelsea Football Club have appointed Frank Lampard, who is a club legend for the team as caretaker manager while the process for looking for a long-term permanent manager is still on going, with contenders such as Luis Enrique and Nagelsmann leading to become the teams permanent boss. This is not the first time Lampard has been appointed by Chelsea. The 44-year-old, who is Chelsea’s record goalscorer making him a Hall of Famer, was released by Chelsea in January 2021 where he was the Head coach after being in charge for 18 months.

He then got appointed by Everton with a two-and-a-half year contract on 31 January 2022 following Rafa Benitez dismissal. Lampard lead the Toffees to safety with important and crucial wins over teams like Manchester United and Liverpool but however still had a challenging time at the club. Lampard was sacked in January by Everton after less than a year in charge.

Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are Chelsea’s co-owners took to the public and told the club’s official website: “We are delighted to welcome Frank back to Stamford Bridge. Frank is a Premier League Hall of Famer and a legend at this club. “As we continue our thorough and exhaustive process for a permanent head coach, we want to provide the club and our fans with a clear and stable plan for the remainder of the season.”

Chelsea have held talks with former Barcelona and Spain boss Luis Enrique in London over the role of being head coach permanently. Enrique is known as a world class manager as he has won the treble at Barcelona in 2014/15, lifting LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League which is one of the biggest cups. There have been talks with the public and fans thinking Luis Enrique would be a great fit for the job as he’s time at Barcelona shows what he can do and fans think he has great potential.

However, Chelsea are also in talk with the former Bayern Munich manager, Julian Nagelsmann who is in fact interested in the offer as he wants to manage in the Premier League views it as he’s next challenge but still has plans not to rush into a decision over his future despite of talks with Chelsea and Tottenham.

A lot of fans wish for the best for Lampard and hope he can take this team to new heights
